How To Shoot The Ball With More Accuracy

There is a misconception that shooting form is universal.

Meaning, there is one absolute way of shooting that works for every basketball player.

This is not the case.

Even the same player may have different basketball shooting techniques, depending on the shot.

Even in basketball, there is a time for everything.

The Exception To This Rule

Take a set jump shot and a dribble pull-up shot for example.

On the set jump shot, we teach to release the basketball as the feet leave the ground.

But, if you release the ball as your feet leave the ground during a dribble pull-up, you’re in for some trouble.

Let me explain.

Here’s why…

On a dribble pull-up, you have more momentum before you shoot the basketball.

If you release the basketball too early, then you will shoot with too much power.

If you shoot the basketball too late, then you will decrease the majority of your power.

So, it’s important to understand the release timing no matter what type of shot you are shooting.

Even in basketball, there is a time for everything.
